FAQ’s

Parent Child Golf Tournament in Richmond VA

How young should I start my child with golf instruction?

Every child is at a different place in their development, and there is no “one size fits all” answer to this question. I have worked with 5 year olds who have been more focused than some 11 year olds. No one knows your child better than you. If you believe your child is willing and open to learning more about playing golf in a structured and fun environment, then they are ready now.

What is the best way to schedule my child’s lesson?

You can find my contact information on the information bar to the left or by clicking on “contact” on the bottom menu. The best way to get in touch with me is through email or on the phone.   If you use email, give me a brief description of your child (age, experience, etc) and anything else you think I need to know. Then, provide me with a few days or times that work best for you.  If you phone me, please leave a short message with your contact information and I will call you back to discuss further details.

How early should we arrive for my child’s lesson?

It is always a good rule of thumb to arrive 10 minutes before each lesson.  This gives your child an opportunity to get acclimated to the new environment, visit the restroom and stretch.

Should I stick around to watch my child’s lesson?

High Performance Golf

I welcome parents to observe their child’s lesson and listen to some of the key words or phrases I use. There is a lot of bad advice out there in regards to the golf swing (ex: keep your head down, keep your eye on the ball, you lifted up) I encourage parents to learn about what their child is working on so that they can reinforce ONLY those key words or phrases used with their child after the lesson is over.

What if my child doesn’t have golf clubs, how will we conduct the lesson?

Don’t let the fact that your child do not have their own set of clubs deter you from getting them started with golf!  I demo clubs your child can use. PLEASE DO NOT buy a new set of junior clubs before the lesson. There are many different companies that offer “junior” club sets these days. Some are far superior to others (without breaking the bank.) It is important that your child has equipment that is the right length and weight so that they can have success with ball striking and build a solid foundation for a swing that will last them a lifetime.
